A Message from the President

Vivian Komori

In her book, “Future Think” Edie Weiner talks about today’s business environment and says quality is not merely a matter of statistics, rather it is a moral issue.  This goes for every aspect of marketing and public relations.  It is what will run throughout the business.

She says “You can lead only with top-down examples and values.  These must be founded on integrity – respect for, an open, honest, and fair dealing with all stakeholder groups, especially employees.  If true integrity exists, quality is a natural by-product.  It requires no additional or wasted energy in the system thus avoiding entropy.”

The following three quotations help with any PR, Marketing, or business strategy and when applied on the simplest to even the most complex level, will ensure a great degree of success.

o       Professor Emeritus Ted Levitt of the Harvard Business School wrote, “The Purpose of any business is to get and keep a customer.”

o       Jerome Li Cari, R&D Director of Beechnut Baby Foods, left the company before a major scandal broke.  When asked why, he said,  “I thought apple juice should be made from apples.”

o       The Golden Rule, which says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

Weiner goes on to say that “Any program based on these three statements of principle can be effective in guiding a company toward high quality in its products and services and in its relationships with its customers, employees, and shareholders.”

It is really pretty simple.
